Learning Philosophy
The educational philosophy at Bhumi Bali School (BBS) centers around adopting the Cambridge Curriculum and instilling holistic values. Our initial goal as a Cambridge School is to earn recognition as an outstanding international school in Bali, committed to academic excellence through this curriculum. Equally, we emphasize holistic education, reflecting our commitment through a strong, supportive community. At BBS, we value each individual, cultivate a positive atmosphere via social interactions and communications, and enhance ethical and personal growth for lifelong learning. We are confident that BBS will develop into a school known for its distinctive character and refreshing presence in the international educational landscape of Kerobokan, Bali..
As we embark on this foundational journey, we foresee a future where BBS parents are deeply integrated into our philosophy, enhancing the learning connection between school and home. Through seminars and workshops led by our principal and esteemed speakers, parents will explore topics such as BBS parenting techniques, holistic values for families, and the synergy between BBS’s educational strategies and home learning. These initiatives aim to strengthen the bonds and unity among BBS parents, align their insights with the school’s vision and mission, and support their children’s education at home, thereby optimizing the application of both the Cambridge Curriculum and holistic educational principles.
- EARLY YEARS
At Bhumi Bali School, our Early Years Core Learning Program is based on the Cambridge Curriculum, often referred to as Centre. This program is tailored to provide an engaging, fun, and high-quality learning experience both inside and outside the classroom. It aims to build the foundational knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary for young students, preparing them for the subsequent stages of the Cambridge pathway.
Centre emphasizes a student-centered and enjoyment-driven learning approach crafted by our skilled educators. This methodology supports our young learners in progressing at their own pace, enhancing their confidence, independence, decision-making skills, emotional intelligence, and self-esteem. Our educators are adept at delivering effective education by blending holistic teaching methods with the Centre curriculum’s resources, ongoing professional development, and targeted assessments to track student growth.
Moreover, our Centre program includes comprehensive English language support for all students, irrespective of their native language. We employ the finest language teaching strategies and Cambridge resources to ensure that our Early Years students achieve proficiency in English.
- PRIMARY
The Primary program at Bhumi Bali School builds on the foundations set by the Early Years (Centre) program, designed to be even more engaging and encompass a broader spectrum of educational elements. In the Cambridge Primary curriculum, students embark on a ‘pathway’ that is age-appropriate and tailored to their developmental stage. This pathway specifies the learning resources they will use and details how their progress and achievements will be monitored and assessed. There are three key aspects of the Primary program:
-
CURRICULUM SUBJECTS
In BBS Primary Years, students can choose to study subjects like English, Math, Science, Art, ICT, Music and PE. Importantly, these subjects are integrated with local/global contexts, special occasions, local culture, and the school's core concepts. The Cambridge Primary curriculum is fully aligned with BBS's mission of fostering academic excellence, non-academic skills, and holistic values. -
ASSESSMENT AT BBS
The engaging contextual and cultural learning approach leads students through the assessment pathway. Assessments allow our professional teachers to evaluate each student's individual educational needs and achievements. -
CLASSROOM SUPPORT AND RESOURCES
We equip our students with an extensive array of Cambridge curriculum resources, such as textbooks, workbooks, learning media, and teachers' guides, all sourced directly from the Primary Years program. Our team of teachers has meticulously studied and tailored these resources to craft an exceptional classroom learning experience, ensuring that all Primary students at Bhumi Bali School benefit from a thoroughly engaging and educational environment.
Music
At Bhumi Bali School, our music program is distinguished by its vibrant and creative events that allow students to display their musical talents. The BBS Music Festival (BMF) offers an official platform for our gifted young performers to shine in front of their peers, teachers, families, and guests. Additionally, the festival features performances from local bands and hosts a small bazaar organized by the BBS Parents Association (BPS) and other vendors, enriching the experience and making the event more dynamic and enjoyable for all attendees.
Sport
At BBS, sports play a vital role in our learning activities. Our PE teachers are passionate about crafting and delivering engaging sport skill workouts and fun games for both Early Years and Primary students. The addition of an indoor sports hall and swimming pool enhances the sporting experience, providing students with top-notch facilities to engage in exciting activities.
We also host several annual sporting events that highlight our commitment to excellence in sports. The BBS Sport Extravaganza is a day of healthy competition and fun for the entire BBS community, including students, parents, and staff. During this event, members of the Student House Groups compete in various sports, with parents and staff also actively participating.
The BBS Cross Country event features 5K and 10K marathons that allow participants to explore the natural surroundings near Bhumi Bali School, promoting both physical fitness and environmental appreciation.
Additionally, BBS Indonesia Raya is held on August 17th to celebrate Indonesian Independence Day. This event focuses on traditional Indonesian sports and cultural activities, fostering a strong sense of national pride and community spirit among all participants.
Art
At Bhumi Bali School, our art classes are a hub of creativity, featuring a wide array of paintings, sculptures, and other masterpieces. We celebrate the artistic achievements of our students with The Art Exhibition, an annual event where students have the opportunity to showcase their work. During the exhibition, students present and explain the meaning behind their art pieces to friends, teachers, and family members, enhancing their communication and presentation skills.
The Art Exhibition is not only a school event but also opens to the public, providing our students with a platform to gain wider recognition. We often collaborate with other schools to host larger art events in Bali, expanding our students' horizons and offering them opportunities to engage with the broader art community.
This initiative is part of our commitment to nurturing our students' artistic talents, skills, and hobbies, directing them towards positive and impactful paths. Through these exhibitions, we aim to open doors for our students to participate in international events, furthering their artistic development and recognition
Summer / Winter Camp
During the long summer and winter breaks, BBS teachers organize fun and engaging Camps to nurture students’ non-academic skills and talents. The Summer Camp is held over 2-3 weeks in June and July during the summer holidays, depending on the program designed by our teachers.
The Winter Camp takes place for 1 week in December before the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Both Camps are excellently planned to be enjoyable and appealing experiences for students, with activities differing from regular classroom learning.
The Camps provide exciting opportunities for students to explore their interests and develop new abilities outside of academics in an entertaining environment.
